Happy Birthday to ME!

On Andrea's birthday we saw the OBGYN for a 19-week check up. After an ultrasound we learned we're having a boy! And he's nice and healthy because he is the size of a 21-week-old already. Andrea has finally gained a few pounds and is under doctor's orders to take it easy after pelvic cramping sent her to the ER last week. We tried celebrating Andrea's birthday with Sara after dinner. Evidently, to Sara cupcakes and party hats do not a birthday make because all she had to say when we asked her to sing Happy Birthday to Mommy was, "No balloons, no birthday."

In case we haven't had the chance to tell you personally, we're expecting another addition to the family! Andrea is sixteen weeks pregnant and we'll find out the baby's gender on Andrea's birthday in a few weeks. The doctor says the scheduled cesarean date will be Monday, Oct. 12. Andrea's nausea has improved but she is still taking her full dose of anti-nausea medicine. It feels like the third trimester already since the "bump" appeared so quickly and has consistently looked two months more advanced than actual! (ie Andrea is four months pregnant but has the aches, pains, and maternity clothes of six months!)

Two-year-old Sara is doing great at "school" (Mother's Day Out twice per week) and loves her Friday playgroup. Lately, the weather has been in the 90s so there have been lots of get-togethers involving baby pools and splashing toddlers. In order to keep up with Sara's verbal skills, Andrea has already begun teaching her the sounds of letters and some small words. We've also introduced the potty, and although she's excited to learn about and talk about this process, Sara has no desire yet to DO it.
